Rosebud's Last Baby (Barn Name: Buddy)
Five Element Type: Wood
Breed
: Quarter Horse
Gender: Gelding
Age: 11
Height: 14-14.2 hands
Color: Dark Bay, 4 white socks, star, strip, snip on face
Location: Meyersville, Texas
Skills: Trail Riding, potential for cow work
Available For: Sale ($2,000) or Swap for Metal or Metal/Earth temperament horse
Contact: Beverly Hill (361-319-3041) or hephzibah6@hotmail.com

Buddy has a strong personality, and needs a more challenging career than what I can give him. He needs a firm, calm experienced rider. I believe he would do well for a cow worker, or trainer. I have also seen him jump fences several times, and he loves to be first. When we ride, he has to get in the front of the mule.

I started him myself, then sent him to a trainer when he stopped going forward for me. He also was riden by the trainer while my broken wrist was healing after he bucked me off. When I began getting back on him at the trainer's he did well for me. He did well for the trainer, but when I got him back home, he wouldn't do much of anything for me. When I want to ride, I have to lead him to the end of the property and ride him back - or - take him off the property on the road - which I don't like to do because he spooks and sometimes starts to buck if a loud truck passes. He really has a lot of potential, and likes doing things, but he seems to have my number. I am a quiet small person with a soft hand, and I also cannot ride for long periods of time as I have a chronic illness. This horse needs consistency - more than I am able to give him. I would miss him immensely, and have grown quite attached to him, but I believe he needs more. Buddy hates to be stalled for very long, and I let him have plenty of space. I saddle him gently and cinch him up slowly. He does not always stand perfectly still for saddling, grooming, or trimming, but it is not because he is being unruly usually - he just has a lot of energy and not always a lot of patience. He can be very loveable and personable at times.

He has never  had colic and has had free reign of our property which is pasture mixed with oak trees and brush with all kinds of natural grasses, weeds, vines, etc. His skin has had a bit of a dry, itchy problem since he was exposed to other horses at the trainer's place in '07. He also had a little place of fungus directly under his mane line about midway that is finally healing and hair growing back. He also rubs off some mane right here sticking his neck through the fence. He has never been lame or sick in any other way.

I am hoping to swap for a metal or metal/earth horse. I need a gentle disposition and a willing horse who responds to a gentle hand. My husband and I like to ride on our property with our mule and a daily ride and a short lope would be nice. Not too much work would be required to make me happy but if I had a horse I felt safe on I know I would ride more than I do now! I would also consider a horse that is trained to drive.

Walker - SOLD!
Five Element Type: Shao Yin
Breed
: Quarter Horse
Gender: Gelding
Age: 5
Height: 14.3 hands
Color: Bay, Snip
Location: Fruita, CO
Skills: Started as Heel Horse in Roping
Available For: Sale (call for pricing)
Contact: NA - Walker has been sold. Thanks for your interest!

WalkerWalker is a lovely gelding who wants to please. He is bred for speed and cow, with Two-Eyed Jack in his bloodline. He has already completed the ground work for roping, as well as being fully capable of following and roping a RoboSteer.

He has also done a lot of box work and scoring, as well as following live steers. He has participated in two ropings, and he and his owner have successfully heeled several steers.

At this point in his career, Walker is ready for professional training. He has the speed, endurance, cow, and desire to please to be an excellent heel horse, and his abilities far exceed his owner's novice roping skills. Being a Shao Yin, he can also be a bit spooky and fearful without support from his rider. That's why he needs an experienced roper to take him to the next level. Experienced ropers have seen and commented on Walker's high level of potential as a heel horse.

Walker also has foundational training in reining, and is well-broke to ride in an arena. He is considered green-broke in roping.

Valentine - SOLD!!
Five Element Type: Wood
Breed
: Mustang
Gender: Mare
Age: 7
Height: 15.3 hands
Color: Grulla
Location: Olathe, CO
Skills: Jumping, Ranch Sorting, Team Penning, Trail Riding, started in Roping
Available For: Placement ($2,000 firm)
Contact: NA - Valentine has been sold. Thanks for your interest!

Valentine is a tough, strong-minded mare who is very competitive. She has competed successfully in the jumper ring up to 3' (was Jumper Champion of the Year in 2008 in the local circuit), but jumping is not her favorite sport. She prefers to work cattle in ranch sorting and team penning, or climb any given mountain (she is a mustang from a WY herd).

She has started training in roping, but is far from experienced. She walks, trots, and lopes in both directions, does flying lead changes, has good lateral movement, neck-reins, and has a good stop. Valentine goes in either English or Western tack, but behaves much better in Western gear. She needs a strong rider who is equally strong-minded, and will find her mischievous behavior amusing. Would make an excellent ranch horse for an experienced rider. Owner is looking for placement for Valentine to make more room for new mustang colts to be trained.

Reyacita - PLACED!
Five Element Type: Metal
Breed
: Mustang
Gender: Mare
Age: 5
Height: 14 hands
Color: Buckskin
Location: Olathe, CO
Skills: Trail Horse, Roping (started in training), Intermediate to Advanced Rider Needed
Available For: Placement ($600)
Contact: NA - Reyacita has been placed. Thanks for your interest!

Reyacita is a wonderful Metal temperament mustang mare who likes to please as long as she is very clear about her job description.

She is a trained trail horse and has been started in roping as a heel horse. She is calm in the box and is just learning to leave the box with speed.

Although she is quite willing to please, she needs a strong rider who will set boundaries, which is typical for a Metal horse. Repetition in training are important to her. She has been known to buck weak riders off out of lack of respect, but never with strong riders.

Reyacita sucks her tongue back against her soft palate when she is nervous, causing a rattling in her throat, but does not have COPD or heaves. She does better with a supplemental herb to prevent this habit. She is a beautiful mover and also cowy. A video of her from last summer is below, and she is much further along now.

Chloe - SUCCESSFULLY PLACED!!!
Five Element Type: Wood
Breed
: Paso Fino
Gender: Mare
Age: 9
Height: 14.2 hands
Color: Palomino
Location: Santa Clarita, CA (So. Cal.)
Skills: Natural horsemanship since birth. Good ground manners. Ridden on trail, but green.
Available For: Placement ($1,200 negotiable)
Contact: NA - Chloe has been placed. Thanks for your interest!

Gorgeous, smart, never sick, barefoot, strong, registered, smooth gait, no vaccines, raised holistically, natural horsemanship methods used since birth, grass-only hays. I own 4 Paso Finos. Not enough time for all.

Chloe needs a JOB and a confident and caring rider. Fair but firm. Patient. She learns very quickly, but doesn’t have enough to do and gets sassy and head-strong. With former trainer, she mellowed out and could be ridden bareback and bitless while he gave lessons to his students! Stood calmly for him, learned tricks. I’M NOT MY TRAINER! Chloe and I are not a good match! I’d love to get more money for her (she has great bloodlines), but more important is finding her the right home and person who will appreciate this amazing horse and USE HER for all her talents.

Lopeh - SOLD!
Five Element Type: Metal
Breed
: Poco Bueno/Leo Quarter Horse
Gender: Mare
Age: 9
Height: 14.3 hands
Color: Bay
Location: Cerrillos, New Mexico
Skills: 4-H, Advanced Rider Recommended, All-Around, Broodmare, Cow Horse (Prospect)
Available For: Sale ($2,000)
Contact: NA - Lopeh has been sold. Thanks for your interest!

Lopeh is a 9-year-old Poco Bueno/Leo QH mare, with papers. She spent her last 3-4 years in a breeding herd in New Mexico and produced 3 babies we know of.

I rescued her in November '09 when the herd was dispersed suddenly and headed to auction (probably slaughter).

She is of old King Ranch stock, was ridden before her breeding herd days, and has good ground manners. She's a beautiful bay with no white markings, 14-3 hands. She's a very "typey," old-style QH and is at a trainer's right now.
